Additional Info What is the Colonial Trade Faire?
Trade Faires were popular 18th century markets, ways to acquire food, furniture, clothing, jewelry, animals, tools and more all in one spot. The purpose of the Oldham County History Center's annual Colonial Trade Faire is to recreate, on a small scale, the idea of an 18th century trade faire. As ith any event or program, our purpose is also to educate the public to the lifestyle, culture and ideology of the people who lived then. Many prominent people played a role in the early establishment of Oldham County during this time period, including the families of Kellar, Taylor, Clore, Snowden, Henshaw and Kuykendall. The county grew from several small forts into what it is today, and many generations handed down skills and stories The History Center is trying to preserve and display through this trade faire.
